Victim Services Program
The Park County Sheriff’s Victim Services program works in conjunction with law enforcement agencies in Park County to respond to crime victims and family survivors in cases of crimes against persons and families affected by violence. We are system-based victim advocates available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure that crime victims in Park County are cared for in a trauma-informed fashion. We offer a variety of services directly, and others through our collaboration with partner government agencies and community-based organizations.
Our program is staffed by three full-time employees, with support from local volunteers. It is important to understand that as system-based victim advocates, we do have a duty to report crimes against persons to law enforcement immediately. With that being said, reporting a crime to law enforcement is NOT the only path to safety. For clients experiencing intimate partner violence, our work with PeaceWorks (Park County’s community-based advocacy program) allows us to divert those clients who desire confidentiality into their care. Our priority is client safety. We work from the principle that clients know their safety best. We are here to support the choices clients make regarding the next steps for their safety and freedom from violence.
Our victim advocates are available during normal county business hours at the Park County Government Building in Bailey (59865 US Highway 285, Bailey, CO 80421) or at the Park County Sheriff’s Office & Jail in Fairplay (1180 County Rd 16, Fairplay, CO 80440), and by appointment in Lake George (schedule through the Fairplay office). We also have the flexibility to meet clients in neutral locations and/or spaces that make them feel safer. If you have any questions, or need assistance, please contact our staff at the location nearest you using the "Contact Us" information listed in the column on this page to the right.
