Guanella Pass Parking Enforcement in Place
Park County has teamed up with Clear Creek County to ensure the safety of everyone visiting Guanella Pass Road/Geneva Road. The Park County Road and Bridge Department has installed new "No Parking" and "Parking" signs along all the way to the Clear Creek side of the summit. The Park County Sheriff’s Office will be enforcing improper parking violations, a $35 citation, for vehicles parked in “No Parking” areas on county right-of-way road shoulders.
Clear Creek County also has installed new “No Parking” signs and will have enhanced enforcement to ensure a coordinated effort along the entire pass.
In past seasons, illegal roadside parking has significantly hindered emergency vehicle access. This plan is vital for public safety, ensuring first responders have clear and unobstructed access to assist those in need—especially during busy times such as leaf-peeping season.
Please park only in designated areas with all four tires off the roadway. Your cooperation directly supports the safety of our community and visitors. Here are some more tips for a great visit:
Plan Ahead Before You Go
- Check conditions first: Use map apps to check travel times, traffic, and closures before leaving. Visit www.cotrip.com for current conditions.
- Bring supplies: Food, water, and essentials in case you’re delayed.
- Weekdays are better: Weekday traffic is much lighter—about 6,000 fewer cars than weekends.
- Consider alternate routes: Check out lesser-known leaf-peeping spots
Parking Rules
- Parking is very limited. Use designated parking areas only.
- Vehicles parked illegally or blocking emergency access will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.
- If there’s no spot —keep moving. Parking on the roadside is unsafe and illegal, even if others are doing it.
