Park County, CO - The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment issued an air quality advisory that includes Park County. The advisory is from 9:00 AM MDT, Thursday, July 25 to 12:00 AM MDT, Friday, July 26, 2024.
According to CDPHE, the public health recommendations include, "If smoke is thick or becomes thick in your neighborhood you may want to remain indoors. This is especially true for those with heart disease, respiratory illnesses, the very young, and older adults. Consider limiting outdoor activity when moderate to heavy smoke is present. Consider relocating temporarily if smoke is present indoors and is making you ill. If visibility is less than 5 miles in smoke in your neighborhood, smoke has reached levels that are unhealthy."
Effected Areas are: Logan, Sedgwick, Phillips, Morgan, Yuma, Washington, Elbert, Lincoln, Kit Carson, Cheyenne, Crowley, Kiowa, Otero, Bent, Prowers, Baca, Las Animas, Huerfano, Custer, Park, Clear Creek and Gilpin Counties. Locations include, but are not limited to Sterling, Julesburg, Holyoke, Fort Morgan, Wray, Akron, Kiowa, Limon, Burlington, Cheyenne Wells, Ordway, Eads, La Junta, Las Animas, Lamar, Springfield, Kim, Trinidad, Walsenburg, Westcliffe, Fairplay, Georgetown and Central City.
Widespread wildfire smoke will impact the advisory area through Thursday evening. Air quality is expected to improve significantly overnight Thursday into Friday.
